Here we are...

Haha...sorry it took so long to start writing. It's just that for me I have to be in a certain mood to write and to tell the truth didn't really want to this past week and a half. Writing about this journey we've been on hasn't been appealing. It's too close still. But it's night now and for the first time in a couple weeks I've been getting good sleep so my night-owlness is back to normal. My family has made it to california. We are at the very top right now, spending the night in the redwoods, almost on the coast near crescent city. Our journey went like this:
Sunday we left, saying goodbye to the Ericksons and their wonderful hospitality (and a great breakfast too). We headed out and stopped at fred Meyer of course. We all ran through, avoiding seeing as many people as possible. We all wanted to leave without saying any more goodbyes. We were ready for the road. Stayed our first night in Tok, where else? The golden bear motel gave us an upgrade with an extra bed so David slept on a real mattress for the first time in months. We went through Canada pretty quickly, stopping the night in several little towns, whitehorse, muncho lake, mcbride...and God detoured us at one place for the good. We felt as if he was hiding us, tucking us away. It was good.
Got to vancouver and planned to spend two nights there but one day in the city was enough and we ran away to Washington. We could tell the difference when we made it in. We were all relieved, for sure, I don't know why, maybe the foreigness of everything was just tense. Stayed in WA and OR a night and now we are here in CA. Personally, I would rather get out of here. Im not too keen on being in Cali but the redwoods are the only reason we all are and we just continue to ask God to guide us like he has been.
Driving with the trailer is STRESSFUL. For dad who does the driving, and me, who gets to be the front-seat passenger. The other kiddos wimped out and headed back to moms car as often as possible for the drive. Trying to navigate busy, crowded, small, narrow roads...and any combination of those, is stressful but my dad deserves an A+ for his work. He got us through the grants pass road to crescent with our 57 foot load. He's amazing. God too. ;)

Tim hortons is great and the coffee is too, and we were surprised at how many A&Ws we saw in Canada. It's like their mcdonalds.
We didn't have any trouble with customs whatsoever and found our first toll in Washington. Thankfully most places it is law that we can get tax free stuff when shopping if we use our ak IDs which is pretty cool. Except food, but military discount is big down here.

We are loving our trailer, the bedroom in the back has two full-sized bunks and one twin over the entertainment center, which we loaded with a tv, xbox, and our four DVD cases. My parents have their own bedroom at the front that consists of a queen bed and their own cabinets, with a tv/mirror that turns for wither their use, or the living area's use. We have a couch and a nice sized dining area that fits us all, and the two slide outs give us a good amount of space in the kitchen/living area. A nice feature is the outside door to the bathroom for on the road when the slides are in.

The vehicles are doing well, I'm having a hard time with the total dependence thing, no car, no privacy, no space...and I miss school, but not alaska...not yet.

It's in the 90's. I'm exhausted and feel sunburned even though I'm not, the heat makes us all feel a little nauseous and sick. Me more so than the rest. I'm getting very I'll feeling at times when on the road. And we are only heading further south, thankfully here in Cali where we are the weather is only something like 59 degrees which is sooo nice. I like ak weather.

I'm sure I'll think of more to write as soon as I've posted this but it is dark out now and feels like it's late even though it's only nine and I'm tired. Too much sun.

Love all and take care!
